# Parameters page

This panel is used to set the parameters used in the topology optimization process. The panel includes five input fields. After clicking the input field, an interactable numpad appears at the right of the input field. This numpad allows users to input the parameter.

'Filter radius': determine the size of the filter. The default number is 3 (filter radius = 3 represents the 3 times the voxel size). Generally, the filter radius should be larger than 3.

'Volume fraction': determine the target volume. The default number is 0.5.

'Evolutionary rate': determine the changed volume in each iteration. The default number is 0.03.

'Voxel size': determine the number of cubic finite elements (voxels). The default number is 1.

'Subjective weight': determine the importance of the sculpted model representing subjective preference. If this weight is set to 1, the topology optimization will only take the structural performance into consideration. If the number is set to 0, the topology optimization will only consider subjective preferences. The default number is 0.5.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://albertlidesign.gitbook.io/vr-beso/gui/parameters-page.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
